FC Bayern match reaction

We got the thoughts of Markus Gisdol, Pep Guardiola and a few players following TSG's 2-0 loss to FC Bayern Munich.

Markus Gisdol: We started the game well, even though Bayern obviously had a lot of the possession. That's only normal. We had a big chance early on through Anthony Modeste when he was in one-on-one with Manuel Neuer. We should have had a penalty shortly after going 1-0 down. You have to be at your best against Bayern, take your chances and get the decisions in your favour if you want to win. That wasn't the case today. We defended well as a team and didn't give them much, but we didn't make the most of our own opportunities. It was tough chasing the game.

Pep Guardiola: We played well in the first half and had control of the game, but Hoffenheim had the best chance to take the lead through Modeste. It became tougher in the second half because my players were running out of legs. I'm proud of the team; they have a lot of heart. It's also very tough mentally to play 90 minutes every three days.

Eugen Polanski: Looking at the first half and the chances we had, we could have come away with more today. We have to take our chances. You have to do more with the ball once you win it back against Bayern than you do against other sides. Unfortunately, our plan didn't work today. We should have had a penalty as well.

Oliver Baumann: Rode had too much space for the goal. We could have gone in front and we could have also found an equaliser. However, we failed to do either. Bayern slowed the game down a lot after going in front. We had other chances but it wasn't enough.

Ermin Bicakcic: The defeat hurts but we'll continue to do what we're doing. We can't bury our heads in the sand; we have to show character for our results to get better. We could have won the game looking at the chances we had. It's unfortunate that we didn't take them. We're looking ahead to the game in Hannover – it'll be a tough match and we'll be without Andreas Beck and Kevin Volland.
