Schalke match reaction

Here's the match reaction from TSG's 2-1 victory over Schalke 04.

Markus Gisdol:We played well, but should've wrapped up the win earlier. Despite that, I am very happy with the team's performance today. It's important that the team keep on progressing each week. It's great to be second in the league, but it's only matchday 7 so we can't let ourselves get carried away. We can go into the international break full of confidence and enjoy our position for a bit before getting back to work and preparing for the game in Hamburg.

Jens Keller:We started the game strongly and had a great chance to take the lead in the first minute. We attacked well in the first half and had a lot of chances to take the lead but couldn't break the deadlock. Our defence was often stretched. We gave the ball away too often and allowed them chances. We wanted to cut down on that in the second half, which we started to do. It's disappointing that we couldn't create more chances.

Tarik Elyounoussi:I am enjoying my time here and feel that I'm performing well on the pitch. We have a great team – it's fun to play alongside the boys. Obviously I'm delighted to have scored. We're second in the league, which is a good feeling.

Adam Szalai:I am very happy to have scored today. I wouldn't say it was a special goal even though it was against my old team. It doesn't really matter who I score against. The main thing is that my goals help the team pick up points, which happened today.

Tobias Strobl:We played well today. Schalke started strongly and caused us a few problems. We deserved to win the match, but we should have sealed the victory earlier. We worked hard for the victory. We desperately wanted to win the game, which I think everyone could see. We're in good form at the moment, although we did concede a late goal which made things nervy at the end. I think that we're going to have a good season.

Kevin Volland:We knew we'd be able to create more chances down the flanks than through the middle. We made the most of our chances in the first half. I enjoy setting up goals just as much as scoring them myself. I am a midfielder and like it when I have a positive impact on the result.
