FC Bayern München match reaction

Here is the match reaction following the unlucky 1-0 defeat to FC Bayern München.

Marco Kurz: We saw a committed team today that never gave up. The lads didn't stop running and a goal was a real possibility in the first half. It will be a completely different game in Fürth. I'm not thinking about the second division at the moment. There are still plenty of matches left. Now we have to get used to playing with that kind of fight against a side that isn't Bayern München. Today's display is a good basis for the next few weeks.

Jupp Heynckes: It was a hard-fought victory and we were rewarded for our efforts. You can't be at your best in every game. TSG are fighting relegation and started very spritely. It's hard to score a goal in those circumstances. It was a difficult game for 93 minutes and that's because of Hoffenheim. When we score a goal it is hard to beat us though. The space started to open up a bit more for us half-way through the second period. Hoffenheim never gave up though – the relegation play-off place is a possibility if they carry on performing like that.

Daniel Williams: We played well but we can't do that just against Bayern. Every single one of us will take the same fight to Fürth next weekend.

Patrick Ochs:
Talking about Fürth next week as a decisive game is not something we should be doing now. Every game that we play now is pivotal. I don't think Bayern took the game lightly. It doesn't matter who plays because every player is of top quality.

Mario Gomez:
Obviously we need to win games like this. We didn't play well but we are happy to have won the match. I don't really want to say anything about the situation in Hoffenheim. Our goal is to win the title and we must focus on that. As a striker, you've just got to be in the right place and sometimes you just get don't the pass.

Tom Starke: I was keen to play and it was nice that it was this game that I started. Hoffenheim didn't play like relegation candidates today. If they play with the same attitude and passion in Fürth then there are plenty of reasons to be hopeful.

Bastian Schweinsteiger: It was obviously not our best performance but we are happy to leave the pitch as winners. We really should have scored the decisive second goal and we would have done had we been more clinical on the counter. We knew before the game that Hoffenheim would be aggressive because they are a side fighting against relegation.
