Day 3 in Feldkirchen: Moral support for TSG players

The TSG players have waterproof jackets hanging down past their knees; rain continues to pelt down onto the training pitch. After two sunny days in Mühldorf castle, day three has had a different feel about it.

The heavens have opened at the right time for the team, cooling them down following their energy-zapping 2-0 friendly win over LASK Linz. The Austrian side put up some good opposition with their aggressive style of play and kept the match open for long periods. Tim Wiese had his hands full trying to keep a clean sheet in his debut game. “There were a few shots at goal, but that's a good thing when you've just come in to the squad,” said Wiese about his first appearance in Hoffenheim colours.

There wasn't much for Wiese to save in either training session. Instead, the players underwent some difficult circuit training, using weights, medicine balls and other different pieces of equipment. Earlier in the morning, the team had a tactical meeting to start off day three.

Some moral support showed up in Feldkirchen on Wednesday, in the form of the Rhein Neckar Supporters. They made the 450 kilometre, round trip to far away Austria to check out the fitness of their players, up close and personal. “We're obviously delighted that some of our fans have come along to support us. It's a great feeling,” said club captain Andi Beck.
