Positives for Obasi and Gulde

Chinedu Obasi is once again back in first team training after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The Nigerian-born international has been out of action following a stress fracture in his tibia that required surgery. Elsewhere, Manuel Gulde is also nearing the end of his road to recovery following two groin operations.

Obasi, after coming through his recovery period successfully, is now gradually working himself back to full fitness with the first team. The 24-year old forward has already completed numerous individual training sessions and has therefore been increasingly involved in the first team training sessions. "It's a huge positive that we've been able to successfully integrate Chinedu back into first team training sessions especially when we're working with the ball. He's coped well with the burden of disappointment", explained a pleased Marco Pezzaiuoli. Of course Obasi is still a few weeks away from being match ready. "Over the coming weeks we'll see if he can cope with the increased workload, but right now we're really happy with the progress he has made", stated the head coach.

Meanwhile, there was also good news for Manuel Gulde, who like Obasi has returned to first team training a couple of times in recent weeks. It hasn't been easy for the youngster after two operations on an injured groin; there were complications in the recovery process following an unusual amount of swelling in the affected area. However, Gulde has now been able to join in for certain training exercises and things are looking up. "We'll have to assess whether we can increase the workload again this week for both him and Obasi, but we're going to be patient with them both", explained the 42-year old head coach.
