Looking back on 2011: Vedo celebrates fatherhood

2011 was another year in which 1899 Hoffenheim made headlines. There were two managerial changes, as well as reshuffles among the club's top officials and executives. On the pitch, the club ended the first half of the current campaign in 9th place in the table. But it was a memorable year for our players as well, who have been telling achtzehn99.de of their sporting highlights. Our Bosnian striker Vedad Ibisevic had plenty of sporting highlights in 2011, but his fondest memory was becoming a father for the first time.

At the beginning of the year, it had been speculated that the world's population would reach the figure of seven billion. And it was confirmed on October 31st, as the world's seven billionth arrival was born in the Philippines and named Danica May Camacho.

But two days earlier, Vedo had celebrated his own good news with the birth of his son Ismail. “My wife and son are very healthy and that is the most important thing. I have always wanted to be a father and the day of Ismail's birth was the best day of my life so far.”
