1899's pre-season kicks off on Wednesday

The 2010/11 Bundesliga season finished all of five weeks ago, but for the 1899 Hoffenheim players it is back to business as usual when their pre-season training gets underway on Wednesday. New head coach Holger Stanislawski and his new charges will take part in their first training session of the season starting at 15:00 inside the Dietmar-Hopp-Stadion. It is likely to be a tough couple of months for the Sinsheim side as they prepare for the battle that lies ahead of them next season.

Unfortunately for Stanislawski, he will have start without several first team players including Manuel Gulde (groin), while Andreas Ibertsberger (ankle) and Boris Vukcevic (broken leg) are both currently undertaking individual training sessions on their road to recovery. On top of that Jukka Raitala (Finland), Chinedu Obasi (Nigeria), Isaac Vorsah (Ghana), Josip Simunic (Croatia), Edson Braafheid (Netherlands) Sebastian Rudy, Peniel Mlapa (both with Germany) are all away on international duty with their prospective national sides. Meanwhile Gylfi Sigurdsson will join up with his teammates on the 6th July in Feldkirchen after taking part in the UEFA U21 European Championships in Denmark.

Nevertheless, the anticipation surrounding the pre-season training is something that Stanislawski is thriving in: “We can finally get going. A few weeks without football were good, but definitely sufficient. I'm certainly looking forward to Wednesday.”
