1899 Hoffenheim 1-0 Borussia Mönchengladbach – match reaction

Hoffenheim registered their first win in three games after a 1-0 win over Mönchengladbach. Find out here what the players and managers of both sides had to say about the game.

Holger Stanislawski: That was a very competitive game today. Going forward I thought we were a bit slow finding our rhythm, but I was very pleased with how we defended. We worked hard for the win today, and I think we deserved it. I'm proud of the boys that we could take three points today.

Lucien Favre: We might have managed a 0-0 today, but we didn't deserve anything more than that. Hoffenheim were very well organised, aggressive in the 50-50s and made it difficult for us to gain any rhythm. Our build-up play was slow today, but they are a very good side.

Andreas Beck: It was really competitive and we didn't expect anything different as they're a solidly organised team and have got to second place because they're hard to beat. But we stuck to it and did what the manager asked of us. And in games like that, where the opposition defends deep, it's great to have players like Ibisevic to unlock a defence.

Vedad Ibisevic: I was really pleased to be starting the game, and I really wanted to enjoy the occasion. That we won the game and I scored the winner is doubly pleasing. I think our defence provided a solid base today, form which we were able to push them back and score the winning goal.

Marc-André ter Stegen: We just didn't create enough chances today. And the goal was a poor one to concede; Ibisevic shouldn't have had that much space in the penalty area.
