1. FSV Mainz 05 0-4 TSG 1899 Hoffenheim – match reaction

1899 Hoffenheim were 4-0 victors over 1. FSV Mainz 05 today. What did the mangers and players have to say about their first Bundesliga win in Mainz?

Holger Stanislawski: We're pleased with the three points of course, but I'm not satisfied with our performance today. Nevertheless the team should be delighted that they've won in Mainz for the first time. That's important for them, no doubt.

Thomas Tuchel (Manager, 1. FSV Mainz 05): I think nobody really saw those first three goals coming when they did, and that's what the game boils down to really. If you look at the match statistics, we should have won the game, but football is different to other sports in that respect. It's hard to analyse because it wasn't a 4-0 game at all. After the third goal our heads dropped completely.

Dominik Kaiser: I'm delighted personally that I got some playing time. After ‘Sali' got injured I secretly hoped I would be playing. The manager trusted me enough to play me, and that feels great. I don't think things could have gone any better for me today.

Ryan Babel: In the first half we didn't play very well, but we took advantage of their mistakes. In the second 45 minutes we were better organised and we played much better because of that. When ‘Sali' isn't there, we don't really have a penalty taker. But I felt good and was sure I would score.

Ernst Tanner: We started well but then lost a bit of shame and fluency. But Ryan put us in a great position just before half-time. In the second half we were slightly better, but rode our luck at times too, and we were grateful to Tom Starke for a good performance. I think it was a deserved victory over all.
