Interview: Vedad Ibisevic

After notching two goals in the opening quarter of an hour in the 5-1 victory over Hamburger SV, Vedad Ibisevic caught up with achtzehn99.de for an exclusive interview.

Vedad, a resounding 5-1 victory over HSV. How do you explain this sudden explosion of form?

After Saturday's results it was clear that we could no longer be relegated, so we were free to play our game and concentrate on our own task. We knew that HSV were a bit tired and that their match on Thursday against Fulham was probably on their minds. We exploited that and the early goal was a big help.

Your two early goals were the 100th and 101st for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. The first goal in Cottbus last season was also scored by you. What does it mean to you personally to go down in the club's history books?

It's a great thing, no question. Even better, though, was the security the goal gave us and the fact that we put in a good performance for our fans. It's an incredible feeling to have finally won again.

Dietmar Hopp celebrated his 70th birthday on Monday - you gave him a wonderful early present with that performance!

True! We were desperate to win the game, not just for Dietmar Hopp but also for everyone around the club. I'm delighted that it worked out and that we were able to secure the three points for Dietmar Hopp for his birthday. I wish him all the best, good health and a Happy Birthday.
