Andreas Beck called up to the national team

Joachim Löw announced his squad selection on Thursday having made a few changes from the side chosen for the Euro 2012 qualifiers. Tim Wiese, Philipp Lahm, Holger Badstuber, Thomas Müller, Mesut Özil and Miroslav Klose all miss out as Löw looks set to experiment with a few of his unproven players.

The good form of both Borussia Dortmund and 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga, has not gone unnoticed by the national coach as he has included new players from both teams. Alongside 1899 captain Andreas Beck, Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels and Marcel Schmelzer have all been added in defence. Schweinsteiger should take the captain's armband in the absence of Lahm, while Lewis Holtby and André Schürrle of Mainz have both been included along with youngsters Mario Götze and Kevin Großkreutz of Dortmund as Löw looks to bolster his midfield and continue the trend of introducing youngsters to the national side. The four players average age stands at 20.

Andreas Beck will be making his 9th appearance in Germany's colours if he steps onto the pitch, as he hopes to cement himself firmly into Jogi Löw's future plans for the national team.
