Grillitsch: "It's going pear-shaped at the moment"

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after the 1-0 loss to Union Berlin.

Florian Grillitsch: "It's difficult to say. It's going pear-shaped at the moment. We simply need to get it in. We were playing towards one goal for 99% of the second half, had enough chances and good situations, but sometimes then also made the wrong decisions, sometimes that final conviction is perhaps missing. And in that one situation in the second half, we conceded the goal. It leaves you tearing your hair out, it's just bitter. If you've got shit on your shoe, you've got shit on your shoe. We now need to process the match, put our finger in the wound and discuss things very clearly – and then look forward and keep going. We need to get out of this somehow, and quickly. I have the feeling that not much is missing – but we then have to turn the tide."

Pellegrino Matarazzo: "It's difficult to process that we've lost this game. The first half was even, perhaps Union had one or two better chances. It was then one-way traffic in the second half but we did not take our opportunities. That makes it difficult to win a match in the Bundesliga. Instead, Union scored with their first chance after the restart. It's an efficiency crisis. There have recently been enough matches that we could've won. We deserve more points at the moment."

Nenad Bjelica (1. FC Union Berlin coach): "It was a very difficult game against a very strong opponent. TSG showed that today too, Hoffenheim have a strong team. It was an even match in which we had the luck on our side at the end. The atmosphere was edgy for the dismissals, but the second yellow card for Kevin Volland is ludicrous. We've improved defensively, the entire team is working diligently. The entire team is showing a high willingness, perhaps we were also rewarded for that. We're delighted with the away win."
