TSG come away from Donetsk with a point

TSG Hoffenheim celebrate their first point in the UEFA Champions League group stage against Shakhtar Donetsk in Kharkiv. The final result was 2-2 (1-2) with Florian Grillitsch and Havard Nordtveit amongst the scorers.

PERSONNEL AND TACTICS:

Julian Nagelsmann started with the same 11 that played on the weekend against Düsseldorf. Havard Nordtveit, Kevin Vogt and Stefan Posch stood in front of Oliver Baumann to form the back three. Pavel Kaderabek and Nico Schulz patrolled the wings. In the midfield, Julian Nagelsmann played Florian Grillitsch with Leonardo Bittencourt and Andrej Kramaric in attacking midfield.
The starting line-up was topped off with both strikers, Adam Szalai and Joelinton.

In the second half, Kerem Demirbay made his return. The midfielder was brought on for Leonardo Bittencourt in the 64th minute. In addition, Steven Zuber also made an appearance (75') along with Reiss Nelson (85') replacing Adam Szalai and Andrej Kramaric respectively.

MOMENT OF THE MATCH:

Florian Grillitsch found space after some great communication with Leonardo Bittencourt and calmly chipped the ball over a rushing Pyatov.

THE GAME IN NUMBERS: 6

After six minutes, Florian Grillitsch scored the first goal in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League for TSG Hoffenheim. Out of the 13 German Champions League participants, only Borussia Dortmund has scored quicker in their debut match.
