Nadiem Amiri is your player of the Hinrunde

Midfielder Nadiem Amiri has been voted as your player of the Hinrunde. The U21 European Championship winner was the clear winner after taking 36 percent of the votes compared to Dennis Geiger (20 percent), Mark Uth (18 percent), Oliver Baumann (15 percent) as well as Kevin Vogt, Benjamin Hübner (both 5 percent) and Serge Gnabry (1 percent).

KEVIN VOGT - 5%

Vogt, who lead Hoffenheim as captain for most of the Hinrunde, missed one game in the Europa League and two games in the Bundesliga. Aside from goalkeeper Oliver Baumann, who has played every single minute of TSG's Bundesliga games, Vogt has played the most minutes for his side this season. Employed mostly at the centre of a back three, the 27-year-old always impresses with his calming presence and precision on the ball. He has played 1100 passes with a 90% success rate – the highest in the team.

BENJAMIN HÜBNER - 5%

Even though Benjamin Hübner missed some time after picking up an injury in the Europa League clash with Basaksehir Istanbul, he still played 18 games for TSG and spent 1500 minutes on the pitch. The winger scored once in both the Europa League as well as the Bundesliga, won 56 percent of his challenges, covered an average of over ten kilometres per game, whilst also completing 85 percent of his passes.

OLIVER BAUMANN - 15%

Our number 1. The last line of defence. One of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga. Oliver Baumann has got even better in the first half of the 2017/2018 season. Goalkeeper coach Michael Rechner has high praise for Baumann: "Oli has established himself as one of the best at his positiion over the last couple of years, and makes hardly any errors. He's made a big step forward this year and stands out again and again."

MARK UTH - 18%

23 games. More than 1600 minutes played. Eleven goals. Two assists. Mark Uth's record to date this season is impressive. Nine Bundesliga goals is already a record for the most scored by a forward in one season. In a mere six games in the Hinrunde, Uth was not involved in a TSG goal. With a brace, he sent the record champions FC Bayern home without a point. The 26-year-old also showed his ability to perform at the highest level, after scoring two of Hoffenheim's three goals in the Champions League playoff against Liverpool.

SERGE GNABRY - 1%

Serge Gnabry has played in 12 games for TSG since his transfer in the summer. He has scored two goals to this point, while also getting one assist. He could got even more if it were not for his injury struggles. First it was an ankle injury, and then he pulled a thigh muscle. On the pitch he brings blistering pace, fantastic dribbling, deadliness in front of goal and a keen eye for his teammates. The 22-year-old also scored one of the goals of the Hinrunde when he scored against RB Leipzig from more than 40 metres out.

DENNIS GEIGER - 20%

Dennis who? Many in the media had barely heard of the TSG youngster at the beginning of the season, but that wouldn't be the case for long. After a league debut in against Werder Bremen, he would play the full 90 minutes in the Champions League playoffs against Liverpool and put in a strong performance against FC Bayern. The 19-year-old, who has been representing Hoffenheim since the age of 12, has stood out in attack this season and scored his first Bundesliga goal against Schalke. The central midfielder impresses most thanks to his vision, how calm he is on the ball, and his ability to hold his own in the midfield, despite often being outsized by his opponents.

NADIEM AMIRI - 36%

19 games, more than 1300 minutes played, four goals, two assists, almost 50 percent tackling success rate and a passing success rate of over 80 percent. All numbers, that make for good reading. Especially for an attacking midfielder. The U21 European Championship winner is a product of the TSG academy and employs a great mix of pace, goalscoring threat and unrelenting will out on the pitch.
