#SCFTSG post-match reaction: "I was happy with the effort we put in"

Here are the thoughts of the players and the head coach after the 3-2 loss to SC Freiburg on Matchday 7 of the Bundesliga.

Julian Nagelsmann: We started well and attacked Freiburg in the first ten minutes but after taking the lead we became tired and lacklustre. We have a few players missing with injury and weren’t able to keep up the high tempo. Freiburg were a lot more dynamic between the 15th and 45th minutes but we should have prevented the goals. We were the better team in the second half and created a lot of chances. The performance was better than against Ludogorets. It would have been nice to win but that’s not always possible.

Christian Streich: Our response to going behind was brilliant. Hoffenheim are a great team and showed real quality despite having only ten players. Towards the end we were a little slower and weren’t closing down quickly enough. Hoffenheim played a lot of long balls but we had a great attitude. It was a strong performance.

Oliver Baumann: We’ve only ourselves to blame for the loss. We started well and took the lead but in the end it wasn’t enough. We lost the important battles on the pitch. We’re not going to complain about the international break. It’s important for us.

Kevin Vogt: It’s a tough defeat – we wanted to win today. We should never concede two goals after taking the lead. We played well after the break but then we conceded an own goal… We’re also missing a few key players.

Havard Nordtveit: It was a difficult game physically and mentally. We showed a lot of determination, especially after the break. We should have taken a point from the match. We really wanted three out of it but having 14 after seven games is not bad.

Philipp Ochs: We really wanted to go into the international break with a win but we were too slow today. That’s not like us. We had the opportunity to take a point but we pushed ourselves to the limits.
