Russell Canouse leaves TSG

Russell Canouse is leaving TSG Hoffenheim and returning home to his native USA. The 22-year-old midfielder was recently loaned out to 2. Liga side VfL Bochum. Whilst there, he requested the termination of his loan agreement which was due to run until June 2018 so that he could continue his footballing career at DC United in Washington.

“Russell is returning to the US for personal reasons. He sees his life progressing further across the pond, both in a private and sporting sense. We wish him all the best in the future,” TSG’s director of football Alexander Rosen said. Canouse, born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, made one Bundesliga appearance for TSG. Before that he played 51 times for the U23 side in the Regionalliga Südwest and he captained the U19 side to the league title in the 2013/14 season under the stewardship of Julian Nagelsmann. He also won 12 caps for his country’s U20 national team.
