Wonder goal! Firmino fires Brazil to victory!

Niklas Süle played in Germany U21's draw in Prague, Marvin Schwäbe kept a clean sheet for the U20 side, Roberto Firmino made his second appearance for the Selecao, Jannik Vestergaard played in a loss for Denmark and Adam Szalai's Hungary side lost as well. Here is a round-up of TSG stars on international duty.

Roberto Firmino made his debut for Brazil against Turkey last week and made a second appearance for the Selecao against Austria in Vienna last night. The attacking midfielder came on for Luiz Adriano in the 62nd minute and 21 minutes later netted his first goal for the five-time World Champions. Firmino received the ball 25 yards out from Felipe Luis before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the top corner. World class.

Firmino's goal made it 2-1 and turned out to be the winner against Austria. David Luiz had put Brazil in front, but a penalty from Dragovic levelled the scores. Firmino then made his mark on the game… “It's a dream. I still can't believe what happened. To be here playing for the Selecao is an incredible feeling. For me it's important that I played quite well and managed to help my teammates,” said Firmino after the final whistle.

Vestergaard and Denmark lose

TSG defender Jannik Vestergaard was part of the Danish side that lost 2-0 in Romania. He replaced former Wolfsburg player Simon Kjaer in the 47th minute to earn his second cap for Morten Olsen's side. Vestergaard was unable to prevent Denmark from falling to defeat. Claudiu Keserü scored both goals for Romania.

Russia too strong for Hungary

The Hungary national team, including TSG striker Adam Szalai, lost in a friendly on Tuesday evening. Russia beat the hosts 2-1 in Budapest and were the better side throughout. Szalai was in the starting XI for the hosts and came off at half time for Tamas Priskin.

The visitors' goals were scored by Ignashevich and Kerzhakov. Hungary grabbed a consolation goal with four minutes left to play through Nikolic.

Süle anchors the defence again

Niklas Süle made his second appearance for Germany's U21s. The TSG centre back played in his natural role for Horst Hrubesch's side. They faced the Czech Republic, hosts of the upcoming EURO 2015 tournament and one of Germany's opponents in the group stage, in Prague and fell behind to Michael Krmencik's goal after 19 minutes. Süle impressed once again for Germany, who improved after the break and took the match by the scruff of the neck.

Philipp Hofmann hit the post in the 62nd minute and less than 60 seconds later Moritz Leitner levelled for the visitors. The midfielder's goal inspired a strong second-half performance from Germany but they were unable to grab a winner. Despite this, the U21s end a successful year with a decent result.

U20s end 2014 with victory

The Germany U20 side ended 2014 with a 2-0 win over Poland. TSG keeper Marvin Schwäbe was between the sticks for the team. David Selke and Sebastian Kerk (penalty) scored Germany's goals in the victory. It was their fourth game in the round-robin tournament and their first victory. Frank Wormuth's side currently lie second in the table. The next games are scheduled for March and April 2015.
