Clarification

TSG Hoffenheim removed the accreditation of a BILD reporter for the game against Olympique Lyon (3-3) in the UEFA Champions League last Tuesday because he reported on the team's private training session. After this decision was made, certain statements on behalf of the club alluded to the BILD reporter ''hiding in a bush'' in order to obtain information. The reporter would like it to be made clear that: ''He has never hidden in a bush.'' Instead he tends to stand behind a nearby wall. We are happy to correct our false statements and we would like to apologise for expressing ourselves in this way.

The training session in question was carried out in exactly the same manner as is outlined in UEFA's official Champions League statutes, namely that 15 minutes of the session are open for all reporters. After this time period has expired, all observers are to leave the training ground. The BILD reporter continued to watch the squad from a hill opposite the training ground. As a result of this, the club decided to remove his right to enter the stadium to report on the match. The ''Springer-Verlag'' news organisation had several members of staff accredited and present in the stadium to cover the match for both newspapers and television.

In this instance, the board of management of TSG consider it important to make it clear that: ''Everyone has the right to write about our club and its employees in such a way as they see fit. It's clear that many are eager to make use of this right. We are glad to support discussion that is lively, critical and fair, and in which both sides are able to make their views heard and respected.''

Two Nominations for the SportAward

Two reasons to be cheerful: TSG has been nominated twice for this year's Rhein Neckar SportAward, an accolade which honours "exceptional sporting achievement" in the region. The senior team has been nominated in the 'TOP Team' category, while Julian Nagelsmann has been nominated in the 'TOP Trainer' category. The winners will be announced and decorated on 19 November 2018 in the Heidelberg civic centre ("Stadthalle").

Tuesday

100 Bundesliga games for Pankratz

Playing against SV Werder Bremen, Leonie Pankratz made her 100th Bundesliga appearance on Sunday. All of her Bundesliga matches have been made wearing TSG's colours. The captain has played for the Kraichgau club since 2010, with detours to Portugal, Spain and Iceland where she devoted herself to parts of her studies while also playing football. Since TSG's promotion to the Bundesliga in 2013, the endurance runner has only missed 15 fixtures, and she is the first Hoffenheim player in the women's team to make 100 appearances for TSG in Germany's top division.

Monday
