Kramaric: "Big challenges lie ahead of us"

Andrej Kramaric made history by finishing as a runner-up with the Croatian national team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Now the forward is back at TSG Hoffenheim and he is eagerly anticipating the new season. Speaking in an interview, he discussed his exploits at the World Cup, his injury and the Champions League.

Andrej, how are you doing after the World Cup?

"I feel good. I do have a few minor problems with my knee that I already had during the World Cup, but I'm confident that it'll soon be better."

How much euphoria has the World Cup given you ahead of the new season with TSG?

"I'm obviously satisfied with the performance at the World Cup. It's a major success to finish as the second-best team in the world. They were incredible weeks."

"Now I'm focused on the Bundesliga"

Has the World Cup boosted your self-confidence?

"Of course, it gives you self-belief when you play in a World Cup final. It's one of the biggest events in my entire career. But the World Cup is over and I'm now focused on the Bundesliga and TSG Hoffenheim. We'll try to repeat what we accomplished last season. Big challenges lie ahead of us."

TSG will be playing #ChampionsLeague for the first time in the coming season. What does that mean to you?

"It means a lot for the club and for me as an individual too. They'll also be my first-ever matches in the Champions League. I made the squad back in my days at Dinamo Zagreb but I never actually played. Now I hope that we succeed in getting good results against the big teams. It'd be something special to get through the group stages."

Are there teams you'd like to face?

"Real Madrid or Barcelona would be super, as my Croatian team-mates Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic play for those clubs."
