Gnabry & Demirbay out with injuries

Both Serge Gnabry and Kerem Demirbay had to be subbed off due to injury in Friday night’s win over Hannover 96. Following examinations on Saturday, diagnoses have now been confirmed: Gnabry has torn a groin muscle, while Demirbay has suffered a minor capsular tear in his right ankle.

Gnabry suffered his injury while setting up Andrej Kramaric’s opening goal, chasing down a back-pass and squaring to his teammate. It was already clear during the celebrations that something was wrong, and he was withdrawn a minute later. It was an early blow for TSG, but Julian Naglesmann’s team still marched on to a 3-1 victory.

Later in the game, Demirbay was accidentally caught by Marvin Bakalorz, with the Hannover man simply trying to land following a challenge from Steven Zuber. Ermin Bicakcic replaced Demirbay in the 69th minute.
