TSG sink Schalke with 2-0 home win

TSG celebrated a 2-0 win over Schalke 04 on matchday 6 in the Bundesliga. Dennis Geiger scored the opener with his first professional goal, before Lukas Rupp wrapped up the win in stoppage time. The win continues Hoffenheim’s unbeaten start to the season.

Line-up and tactics

Julian Nagelsmann made five changes to the team that beat Mainz 05 on Wednesday evening. Serge Gnabry, Andrej Kramaric, Pavel Kaderabek, Steven Zuber and Dennis Geiger all returned to the starting XI to face the Royal Blues, alongside Oliver Baumann, Havard Nordtveit, Benjamin Hübner, Kevin Vogt, Nadiem Amiri and Mark Uth.

Hübner, Vogt and Nordtveit lined up in a back three ahead of Baumann, flanked on either side by Kaderabek and Zuber. A midfield three of Geiger, Amiri and Kramaric supported Uth and Gnabry in attack.

Julian Nagelsmann was forced to make a change in the 29th minute, bringing on Lukas Rupp for the injured Nadiem Amiri. Sandro Wagner came on for Gnabry in the 53rd minute.

Moment of the Match

15 minutes before the end, Keher handles the ball in the box, tough the referee didn’t see it. The Schalke man is free to shoot goalless, but Kevin Vogt is and dives in front of the ball to block the effort. A moment that says it all about the passion and determination of these players.

Number of the Match: 14

14 points after six games – the best start to a season in the club’s history. Four wins, two draws, zero defeats. We’ll take that record!
