U21s celebrate opening win vs. Czech Republic
Germany’s U21s got off to a successful start in the European Championship in Poland. Stefan Kuntz’s side defeated their Czech counterparts 2-0 on Sunday evening.
The goals came from Max Meyer in the 44th minute and Serge Gnabry in the 50th. Davie Selke missed an opportunity to make it 3-0 when his penalty was saved in the closing stages of the game.
TSG’s Jeremy Toljan started the game, along with Stark, Kempf, and Gerhardt to form a solid back four in front of goalkeeper Julian Pollersbeck. His teammate Nadiem Amiri remained on the bench.
The three points mean that Germany currently sit at the top of Group C – level on points with Italy, who beat Denmark 2-0.
Germany’s U21s’ second group game comes against Denmark on Wednesday, with Italy facing the Czech Republic.
