TSG Hoffenheim have extended striker Adam Szalai’s contract with a year left on his previous deal. His new contract runs until June 30th 2019. The 29-year-old Hungary international joined TSG from Schalke 04 in the summer of 2014.

“Adam had an impressive second-half of the season and is an important figure for the team off the pitch too,” said Julian Nagelsmann, adding: “Every manager finds players like Adam invaluable additions to their squad,” and praising Szalai’s “mentality and quality.”

“I’m really pleased about the contract extension,” said Alexander Rosen, “especially when you take into consideration the fact that he’s not had the easiest of times here at TSG Hoffenheim. Adam has never given up, has always conducted himself in a professional manner, and worked tirelessly. For that reason, he is a fantastic example to every player on how to overcome challenging situations.”

Szalai has scored 12 goals in 53 Bundesliga appearances for TSG – seven of which alone came in the second-half of last season. “I’ve no doubt that with my experience, quality, and determination, that I will be able to help the team overcome the challenges ahead of it,” said Szalai himself, who “wanted to remain a part of this special organization without question,” and is “overjoyed at the mutual trust the club has displayed in him.”

To celebrate the striker’s contract extension, Adam Szalai ‘28’ shirts are on offer in the Online-Shop until Friday evening, 23:59 CEST.
