Dennis Geiger signs professional contract

TSG Hoffenheim have integrated another academy player into their ranks, as Dennis Geiger (18) has signed his first professional contract, which will run until the 30th of June 2019. The midfielder is still eligible to play for the U19s, but moved to the first-team squad during last summer’s pre-season.

“Dennis is a gifted player with fantastic technical qualities, we want to keep developing him carefully,” said director of football Alexander Rosen, who has great experience in developing youngsters. He continued: “We’re proving once again that we trust our academy players, we offer them perspective and by doing so we remain faithful to our philosophy.” There are currently eight youngsters from the youth team who are members of the Bundesliga first-team squad, and in the 4-0 win against 1. FC Köln at the start of December, five of them were in the starting XI. They were: Niklas Süle, Jeremy Toljan, Nadiem Amiri, Philipp Ochs and Baris Atik.

Born in Mosbach, Geiger has been on TSG’s books since the U12s and has represented Germany at all levels from the U15s. In May of 2015, he finished second with the Germany U17s at the European Championships in Bulgaria. In spring of 2016, he played a big role in TSG U19s' run to the final of the German Championship. In the final itself, he scored the 1-1 equaliser in the 5-3 loss to BVB.
