TSG sign striker Anthony Modeste

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have signed a new striker. Anthony Modeste has completed a move to the Kraichgau from French Ligue 1 side Girondins Bordeaux. The striker has signed a three-year contract at TSG.

The 25-year-old was recently loaned out by Bordeaux to league rivals SC Bastia. The 6'1'' former France U21 international scored 15 times in 36 games for last season's 12th-placed side in France's top flight. Modeste's previous clubs include French sides OGC Nice, Angers SCO, Bordeaux and Bastia. He has also spent half a season in the Premier League with now Championship side Blackburn Rovers. The striker scored 51 goals in 167 games in France.

Alexander Rosen, head of professional football: “Anthony Modeste is a quick and dangerous striker who's also good in the air. He also works hard when the opposition have the ball.”

TSG manager Markus Gisdol: “We've had our eye on Anthony for while and are delighted that we could arrange a deal for him.”

Modeste on his move to the Bundesliga: “The conversations between myself, Markus Gisdol and Alexander Rosen convinced me that Hoffenheim was the right club to join. I'm pleased to be here and will do all I can to help the team to success.”
