TSG sign Eugen Polanski from Mainz

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have signed Polish international Eugen Polanski. The 26-year-old arrives from league rivals Mainz 05, signing a contract until 2015.

Polanski's professional career began in the 2004/2005 season with Borussia Mönchengladbach. After four years at the Foals, he moved to Spanish first division side FC Getafe. Following 26 appearances in the Primera Division, he returned to the Bundesliga for the 2009/2010 season to play for Mainz 05. Since then, he's played 87 Bundesliga games, scoring four goals in the process.

The Sosnowiec-born defensive midfielder has made a total of 131 Bundesliga appearances. TSG sporting director Andreas Müller said: “Eugen Polanski brings a wealth of Bundesliga experience and is tactically sound. His signing increases our stability further and that is something we need in the battle against relegation.”

Eugen Polanski: “We have a difficult task ahead of us, I know that. I am convinced that we will stay up and I am looking forward to helping make that happen.”
