TSG to play in the PreZero arena

The Rhein-Neckar Arena in Sinsheim has a new name: PreZero arena. The home of Bundesliga outfit TSG Hoffenheim will go by this new title with immediate effect. At the opening match of the second half of the season against Bayern Munich, the club will introduce its new strategic partner, PreZero. The two organisations are aiming to work together to improve waste management and the recycling of resources at all TSG home matches. The Neckarsulm-based organisation specialised in recycling management is part of the Schwarz group (one of the world's largest trading companies) and will assist TSG in the realisation of its ambitious sustainability objectives. This strategic partnership acts as a representation of the club's strategy for the future, ''TSG is movement.''

''We want to work together to make our stadium a forward-looking arena which sets an example for sustainability and resource efficiency,'' said TSG managing director Dr. Peter Görlich, going on to add: ''As a successful team in one of Europe's top leagues, we are conscious of the way people look up to us as role models beyond the football pitch. Along with our partners at PreZero, we are aiming to save resources and take a firm stance in favour of sustainable development.''

''PreZero's vision is of a recycling system in which the quasi-totality of waste material is recycled. This is because we consider everything to have value as a raw material,'' said Dietmar Böhm, managing director at PreZero. ''To achieve this, we carry out analysis of recycling flows and find innovative solutions, whether it be for waste sorting systems or unconventional approaches to recycling. By recycling, our clients don't just spare the cost of waste disposal; they also save resources and contribute to the  protection of the environment,' said Böhm in his explanation of PreZero's approach. The management of TSG were evidently convinced by PreZero's team of experts, who conducted a thorough investigation and found out that at least 60 percent of the four tonnes of waste resulting from an average TSG home game had the potential to be recycled.

''The PreZero team provided us with a comprehensive list of policies which we could implement in a variety of different areas, such as suggestions for more efficient waste separation systems, the replacement of styrofoam cups with cups made from recyclable material or the use of grass cuttings as raw material for the production of autograph cards,'' said Görlich, who was clearly impressed by the results of the analysis carried out by the Neckarsulm-based organisation.

''Our approach is all about transparency: we want to demonstrate the recycling potential of waste. This is why, for the first game of 2019, we've decided to set up containers made from transparent acrylic glass in which we'll be able to display the entirety of the waste generated from our last home game against Mainz. We want to demonstrate the sheer extent of the waste that accumulates. We want to demonstrate why we should be taking a closer look at this entire process,'' said Dietmar Böhm at the launch of the partnership.
