Personnel and tactics:
In TSG’s final match of the season, Julian Nagelsmann chose the following eleven players to face BVB: Oliver Baumann, Pavel Kaderabek, Ermin Bicakcic, Florian Grillitsch, Nico Schulz, Steven Zuber, Mark Uth, Kevin Vogt, Kevin Akpoguma, Andrej Kramaric and Adam Szalai. The head coach made the changes to the team that lined up against VfB Stuttgart last week, as the injured Lukas Rupp and Havard Nordtveit were replaced by Ermin Bicakcic and Adam Szalai. The one other change saw Pavel Kaderabek in for Nadiem Amiri.
Ahead of goalkeeper Baumann was a back-three of Vogt, Bicakcic and Akpoguma, while Kaderabek and Schulz operated on the flanks. Grillitsch and Zuber patrolled the centre of midfield, with a front-three of Kramaric, Szalai and Uth.
Nagelsmann made his first substitution in the 64th minute, shortly after the goal to make it 2-1 - Steven Zuber came off for Nadiem Amiri. In the 79th minute, Andrej Kramaric was forced off with an injury and Eugen Polanski was brought on in his place. Two minutes before full time, Robin Hack replaced Mark Uth, who was cheered off by the home fans.
The guests have the first dangerous chance of the game through Raphael Guerreiro. The BVB full-back hits the ball sweetly from 18 yards with his left foot. Oliver Baumann saves well, only conceding a corner.
Kramaric receives the ball from Schulz and shoots powerfully from the right, around 18 yards out. Bürki is forced into a brilliant save but doesn’t hold on. The rebound unfortunately doesn’t fall kindly to Szalai, who was waiting to pounce.
BVB ‘keeper Bürki loses the ball from a back-pass. He’s put under pressure by Uth and gives the ball to Kramaric, who looks up and finishes to make it 1-0.
Adam Szalai is played into the penalty area and tries his luck from the left on a tight angle. His effort of blocked but he gets the ball again and shoots. Bürki saves.
Schürrle is sent through and bears down on Baumann on the right. TSG’s number 1 makes himself big and saves. The ball ends up in the side netting.
A double chance for TSG. Bürki saves a Szalai effort with his foot, then Zuber’s deflected shot is blocked just before it crosses the line.
BVB equalise with their first chance after the break. Reus is played into the box on the left, he initially loses the ball but reacts quickly to finish from close range. 1-1.
TSG retake the lead. An incredible goal, wonderful build-up play. Uth has the ball, plays it to Kramaric, who in turn sets up Szalai. The Hungarian keeps his cool to finish past Bürki.
Unbelievable! Kaderabek with the goal – his second Bundesliga strike for TSG. A Kramaric free kick from the left causes chaos in the BVB box. Akpoguma has the first chance, Szalai the second, Kaderabek the third, and the full-back finally finishes to make it 3-1.
