The last matchday of the 2018/19 Bundesliga season takes place on Saturday. What's the mood like heading into the final round?
"On the one hand, we're all very happy to go on holiday at the end of a long season; on the other hand, we're looking forward to the final game and have made a positive start to the week. We're hoping it ends well too and that we can climb a little bit further up the table."
In sporting terms, you and your team-mates don't have anything left to play for. But your opponents TSG do. How do you approach a match like that?
"Pretty normally – like you approach any other game. Throughout the season, we've been in the kind of position where we haven't been under major pressure, so this situation isn't new for us. We can play with freedom, but we know that other teams still have a lot to play for and will be giving their all."
How do you rate TSG?
"We have prepared and readied ourselves for Hoffenheim like we would any other team. TSG are a very strong footballing side that like to have the ball and be creative. They're very strong individually, too. It'll be a tough task for us, but we're optimistic and we want to get a positive result."
Are you satisfied with Mainz's season?
"We've reached the 40-point mark and we secured our top-flight status at an early stage. We can be very satisfied with that. All in all, we've had a good season that we obviously have the opportunity to round off in style by beating Hoffenheim in our last home game. It's always nice to have the final game of the season at home. We hope that the stadium will be full, and that we'll be able to bid farewell to our fans and thank them for their support this season by producing another good performance."
