TSG Hoffenheim will face two teams from the Belgian top flight on Friday (11 January) as part of their preparations for the second half of the Bundesliga season. The squad will on Thursday travel to Murcia in Spain, where Julian Nagelsmann's charges will face VV St. Truiden at midday the following day before taking on RSC Anderlecht at 15:00 CET (available via live-stream on the TSG channels).
VV St. Truiden sit in a commendable sixth place in the Belgian Jupiler League over the winter break, with Marc Brys' charges having been one of the surprise packages of the current campaign. Only on two occasions in their history have St. Truiden finished a season in a higher position than their current one.
One point and one place above St. Truiden in the table is RSC Anderlecht. But while the season has been a success for the former, the latter have fallen short of their usual high standards and coach Heinz Vanhaezebrouck has been sacked. Frenchman Karim Belhocine is currently the interim boss. The 34-time Belgian champions have never finished lower than third place in the last 20 years.
Anderlecht: 1983 UEFA-Cup winners
Anderlecht are a familiar face in the Champions League too, having qualified for the group stages of the continent's elite club competition 12 times. But their biggest European success came when they won the 1982/83 UEFA Cup. Anderlecht reached the final again the following year but were defeated by Tottenham Hotspur on penalties.
Knowledge Musona, who formerly played for TSG, is in the RSC Anderlecht squad. The 28-year-old made 17 competitive appearances for Hoffenheim in 2011 and 2012, scoring one goal.
TSG.TV will be broadcasting the match against Anderlecht as a live-stream on the TSG channels.
