Amiri in provisional squad for U21 Euros
Nadiem Amiri has been named in the provisional Germany squad for the European U-21 Championship, which will take place in Italy and San Marino between 16 and 30 July. The midfielder, who tore his lateral collateral ligament against Werder Bremen and is working towards his comeback, was part of the Germany squad that won the tournament two years ago and is now looking to defend the title.
Coach Stefan Kuntz has named 27 players in his provisional squad. The final 23-man squad, which will omit four players from the provisional selection, will be announced on 6 June.
In addition, Nico Schulz, who is joining Borussia Dortmund from TSG Hoffenheim, has been included in the Germany squad for the two EURO 2020 qualifiers in Belarus (8 June) and against Estonia (11 June).
Nelson nominated for "Rookie of the season"
Reiss Nelson has wowed the TSG Hoffenheim fans in his first season at the club, notching seven goals and an assist. That admiration is also shared by the German Football League (DFL), which has listed the 19-year-old among the nominees for the Bundesliga "Rookie of the season". The attacker is one of the seven best newcomers in the league and was previously named "Rookie of the month" in October.
The Arsenal loanee has developed into an important player, and one who has been very successful coming off the bench, during his time in Germany. The Englishman has scored four of his seven goals as a substitute. Fans can vote for Reiss Nelson here.
The other nominees for the award are Achraf Hakimi (Borussia Dortmund), Dodi Lukebakio (Fortuna Düsseldorf), Nicolas Gonzalez, Ozan Kabak (both VfB Stuttgart), Evan N’Dicka (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Matheus Pereira (1. FC Nuremberg).
