Steven Zuber extends contract until 2023

Switzerland international Steven Zuber is staying loyal to TSG Hoffenheim and extending his contract with the Bundesliga club by three years until 30 June 2023. The 28-year-old midfielder has already been plying his trade in the Kraichgau for six years.

"It's a real pleasure to have a player like Steven in the squad," said TSG director of football Alexander Rosen, who paid tribute to Zuber's sporting qualities and versatility as well as the "outstanding and exemplary attitude that he shows on and off the pitch every day". Furthermore, Rosen added, "it can no longer be taken for granted in the fast-moving football business that a player will stay loyal to one club for such a long period of time, especially because in Steven's case it hasn't always been plain-sailing due to injuries". This is "a very positive sign of the high level of identification with TSG and its surroundings".

The Winterthur native firmly agrees: "The trust that has been placed in me over the years is an honour for me and makes me all the more delighted to keep playing here. The move from CSKA Moscow in the summer of 2014 was the right step and I'm delighted to be continuing this success story together with my team-mates, the coaching staff, everyone at TSG and our loyal supporters."

Zuber, whose big objective is to be involved in the European Championships this summer, has made 84 Bundesliga appearances for TSG to date, scoring seven goals. He has also made five appearances in the Champions League (one goal), four in the Europa League and 10 in the DFB Cup. At international level, he has been capped by Switzerland 23 times and scored six goals.
