Baumgartner: "We need to take our chances"

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after the 1-0 defeat at SC Freiburg.

Christoph Baumgartner: "I'm extremely frustrated. I think we performed very well for long periods. I don't know how many chances we created but ultimately you have to take them. Freiburg got a penalty and that's how they won the match. We should've scored from my shot and several other opportunities; then we would've won. We had Freiburg pinned back but we need to score more goals. Two such unlucky defeats, including the one in the cup, obviously hurt but we'll keep going. We now want to beat Wolfsburg and then we'll be completely back in the race."

Benjamin Hübner: "We were dictating the play, finding space well and had a good match plan. We had enough opportunities but unfortunately didn't take them. We need to ensure that we continue to play with such dominance and that we keep creating chances – but then we actually need to take them."

Ermin Bičakčić: "We were in control of the game for the most part and created lots of chances; we should've come away with more in the end. It was a big chance for us to push up in the table. We have to take blame for the defeat. We should not have lost that game. The penalty incident obviously shouldn't happen like that. Poschi needs to stay on his feet there but he knows that himself. Such things happen; we'll keep going. The good thing about football is that we have the chance to do better next week."

Pavel Kadeřábek: "We were clearly superior in the second half. We needed to take our chances and win the match. Before the game, we'd said that we needed to embrace the fight. We were slightly deeper in the first period and were waiting for possession turnovers. We were then more attack-minded in the second half and tried everything to score the equaliser. Now we need to look forward and concentrate on Wolfsburg."

Alfred Schreuder: "I think that we actually put in a very good away performance. We were highly disciplined and implemented our plan. We cannot allow that penalty incident to take place. There was not much that could happen there. We created a lot of opportunities. We're good but not yet good enough. That's what I've told the lads. If we want to achieve something, we need to be better."

Christian Streich (SC Freiburg coach): "It was a tight and hard-fought match. We created the goalscoring chances. I'd feared that TSG would play with a back three but we wanted to concentrate on ourselves. A draw would've probably been more deserved in the end. We also had a few chances to score but we had our backs to the wall in the final 20 minutes. It was an extremely important game for us."
