Red card to the black market for tickets

TSG Hoffenheim will welcome FC Bayern Munich to a sold-out PreZero Arena for a Bundesliga match on Saturday 29 February (15:30 CET). In the lead-up to this fixture, numerous tickets have already been put up for sale on various unauthorised platforms such as Viagogo, eBay or eBay Classified Ads for prices that are, in some cases, vastly inflated. TSG would like to take a stand against the black market at the match against the record champions and is asking its fans for their support with this initiative.

The General Ticket Terms & Conditions of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim Fußball-Spielbetriebs GmbH stipulate that both the public sale and the commercial resale (to generate profit) of tickets are not permitted and will be prosecuted under civil law. For several years already, TSG has been taking consistent and successful action against such unauthorised ticket sales in cooperation with the Karlsruhe-based law firm SCHÜTZ Rechtsanwälte.

TSG supporters can now support their club in the fight against the black market at the home game against Bayern Munich. An information stand will be set up for TSG fans at the Westkasse, which is diagonally opposite the Fan Shop. Before and after the match, all supporters who have paid above the regular price for their tickets can present them there. TSG will then review how the buyers came into possession of the tickets. Fans affected may also contact the TSG Ticketing Department with information before the day of the match. Important notice: fans who have acquired a ticket at an inflated price do not have any legal consequences to fear themselves!

"We're continuing to pursue the approach we've been taking since 2017 against the inflated resale of tickets and have already recorded several legal successes. In doing so, we want to continue to limit rip-offs with our tickets – and to this end we're hoping for the support of our fans," said Thorsten Baller, Head of Ticketing at TSG Hoffenheim.

TSG lawyer Dr. Markus Schütz added: "In addition to adopting a consistent approach against platforms such as Viagogo, we also support the Ticketing Department in 'smaller-scale' cases where sought-after tickets are traded in a manner that cannot be tolerated. The exorbitant prices that are frequently cited or achieved in auctions ultimately damage all the honest fans and the club."

TSG Hoffenheim is calling upon all club members, season ticket holders, fan club members and all other stadium visitors not to support the unauthorised resale and black market trading of match tickets. Should you be offered tickets at the stadium, please do not buy them as you will not know whether these tickets have already been blocked or cancelled due to instances of fraud of other infringements of our GTTC. In the worst-case scenario, you will have spent a lot of money on tickets and still won't be able to see the match due to the tickets being blocked by TSG. The same applies for tickets that are purchased via the abovementioned or other Internet platforms.

For this reason, please only purchase match tickets from TSG Hoffenheim. To this end, we can offer you an authorised secondary market – the TSG Ticket Market. Here, TSG supporters may purchase or sell their tickets under fair conditions. All the necessary information can be found here.
