Jacob Bruun Larsen joins, Locadia loan terminated

The 21-year-old Denmark international Bruun Larsen has penned a deal until 30 June 2024. His contract with BVB still had one and a half years left to run. "Jacob is an extraordinarily talented attacking player who can be deployed flexibly in different positions. He's extremely quick, a strong dribbler and dangerous in front of goal," said TSG director of football Alexander Rosen, who explained that the stiff competition for places within the Dortmund squad has presented Hoffenheim the opportunity "to sign an internationally regarded and highly talented player with potential for further development. Jacob has not recently been getting the minutes he has been hoping for in what is an absolutely top team and so with that in mind we will give him the time he requires to adapt here."

The 1.82-metre-tall Bruun Larsen came through the youth ranks at Danish top-flight club Lyngby BK and moved to the academy of Borussia Dortmund – who beat a number of other top clubs to his signature – at the age of 16. He became an U17 German champion in his first year at BVB, following that up with U19 titles in 2016 and 2017. He made his professional debut in Dortmund in a DFB Cup second round tie against Union Berlin on 26 October 2016. He has since made a total of 29 Bundesliga appearances (two goals, three assists) and seven Champions League appearances (1/1) for the Black & Yellows, as well as playing four times in the DFB Cup and once in the DFL Super Cup. He was loaned out to VfB Stuttgart in the second half of the 2017/18 season, making four Bundesliga appearances.

He represented the Denmark U23s at the 2016 Olympic Games, where they were eliminated by Nigeria in the quarter-finals. Bruun Larsen played all four matches. His senior debut for Denmark followed on 21 March 2019 in a 2-2 draw with Kosovo.

"I'm really excited to join TSG and to work with coach Alfred Schreuder and the team. Hoffenheim is a top destination for young players. The club is held in high regard internationally for its work in developing players. I'm now looking forward to being a part of it," said Bruun Larsen, who will play alongside his countryman Robert Skov in the Kraichgau. Bruun Larsen will wear the shirt number 7 at Hoffenheim.
