#TSGFSV: New record within reach!

The international break has now finished and the Bundesliga is back this weekend, with TSG Hoffenheim set to round off the Matchday 12 action at home to 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Sunday evening (18:00 CET/Live Ticker at achtzehn99.de). For the visitors, it will be the first match under new coach Achim Beierlorzer. Below, achtzehn99.de has all the facts and figures you need to know ahead of #TSGFSV.

Did you know that…

…TSG can set a new club record against Mainz?

TSG Hoffenheim have won their last five Bundesliga matches in a row – a feat they have only achieved on two previous occasions in the top flight (October-November 2008 and September-October 2016). But they have never won six consecutive league games, so there is the potential for a new record to be set against Mainz.

…Hoffenheim can turn games around?

The 2-1 victory away to 1. FC Cologne was the second time this season that TSG Hoffenheim have come from behind to take all three points, following their 3-2 triumph over Werder Bremen. No other Bundesliga club has won more often from losing positions.

…Kevin Vogt is approaching a major landmark?

Having already made 99 Bundesliga appearances for TSG Hoffenheim, our captain Kevin Vogt will reach the 100 mark if he features against Mainz.

…Mainz have only ever made a worse start to the season once?

For the 05ers, who have just nine points from their 11 matches and a goal difference of -18, it is the second-worst start to a season in their Bundesliga history. Only in the 2006/07 campaign, which culminated in relegation, did Mainz have fewer points on the board at the same stage of the season (8).

…Mainz recently suffered a record loss on the road?

In their penultimate match before the international break, Mainz were beaten 8-0 at RB Leipzig. It was the biggest defeat that the 05ers have ever suffered in the Bundesliga. They subsequently lost 3-2 at home to Union Berlin, prompting the sacking of Sandro Schwarz and the appointment of Achim Beierlorzer as his replacement.

…TSG will be facing former player Adam Szalai?

The Hungary international made exactly 100 Bundesliga appearances and scored 23 goals for TSG Hoffenheim before returning to Mainz, where his Bundesliga career began, in the summer. The 33-year-old has since played nine times, taking his appearance tally for the 05ers to 88 games (21 goals).
