Schreuder: "The team looks sharp"

Head coach Alfred Schreuder spoke at the press conference prior to the Bundesliga match away to Hertha BSC (Saturday at 15:30 CET/Live Ticker at achtzehn99.de) about the personnel situation, the team's development and the fixture on Saturday.

Alfred Schreuder on…

…the team's development: "It can obviously always get better, but we're on the right track. We're in a very good physical condition and can win games in the closing stages. The team looks sharp, the recent wins have given us a boost. We're exuding greater confidence. I'm satisfied with the lads' development."

…the match on Saturday: "Hertha have recently been on good form. It's going to be an intense match. Both teams want to win. I can envisage it being an exciting match for the most part."

…Hertha BSC: "They're a well organised opponent. Last week they went 1-0 down but still managed to pick up a point. They have very good individual quality and pacey players in the wide positions. Vedad Ibišević is a very intelligent striker who is tough to defend against. If we can manage that, we'll have a good chance."

…the personnel situation: „Florian Grillitsch took part in the training session yesterday and is available again. We still have a few injury absentees: Ishak Belfodil, Steven Zuber, Diadie Samassékou and Håvard Nordtveit are out. Konstantinos Stafylidis is carrying a knock too."

…Ishak Belfodil: "We've obviously been in contact with him. The operation went well and we'll continue to stay in touch with him."

The social media fan question of the week:

What was the most defining moment of your coaching career?

"My first season as an assistant coach at Twente Enschede was very special. We won the title. As Hoffenheim head coach, it was obviously the victory in Munich. That was something really special."

Head-to-head record:

TSG supporters will have fond memories of recent clashes with Hertha BSC: the Sinsheim outfit are unbeaten in their last seven matches against the capital club (four wins and three draws), while the 5-0 triumph in Berlin in December 2014 remains the biggest-ever away victory in the club's history.

The opposition's form:

Hertha's form has rapidly improved of late and they have picked up a solid 10 points from their past four matches. Those recent successes have seen coach Ante Čović's team climb to 10th position in the table – one place above TSG.
