Did you know that…
…the two quickest goals TSG have ever scored in the Bundesliga came against Bayern Munich?
Kevin Volland's opener against the Bavarian giants just nine seconds into their clash on 22 August 2015 remains the joint-fastest goal in Bundesliga history – a record shared with Karim Bellarabi of Leverkusen. Hoffenheim made another bright start on 21 September 2009, Vedad Ibisevic netting against the record champions with just 36 seconds on the clock. TSG ultimately went on to lose both games 2-1, but they set some club records in the process.
…the men from Munich are still unbeaten at home against the Kraichgau club?
The Bavarians have an imperious home record against Hoffenheim, winning nine and drawing two of the 11 previous encounters. A high-scoring encounter in March 2014 ended 3-3, while there was a 1-1 stalemate in November 2016 too.
…there will be four players up against their former clubs?
TSG Hoffenheim will be reunited with some familiar faces when they travel to Bayern Munich this weekend: in Serge Gnabry, Niklas Süle and David Alaba, there are three players in the current Bayern squad who previously plied their trade in Sinsheim. TSG man Sebastian Rudy, meanwhile, spent a season in Munich in 2017/18.
…Robert Lewandowski is on record-setting form?
The Polish forward is currently in outstanding form. Not only did the 31-year-old recently score twice away to Tottenham in the Champions League, but he has 10 goals in just six Bundesliga matches too. No player has ever reached double figures so quickly in the German top flight before.
