Striker Locadia joins TSG

TSG Hoffenheim have secured the services of Dutch striker Jürgen Locadia shortly before the end of the Bundesliga transfer window. The 25-year-old has joined the Kraichgau club on loan until the summer of 2020 from English Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion.

"Jürgen is a physically strong striker who has a real presence about him in front of the opposition goal. He's an outstanding finisher  with both his right and left feet," said TSG Hoffenheim director of football Alexander Rosen of the new signing. Following the record sale of Joelinton to Newcastle United, TSG "have been looking for another striker who keeps opposition players busy and can pose a threat in the box" explained Rosen, who added: "Jürgen is a guy who has the attributes to be able to do this."

TSG head coach Alfred Schreuder already knows Locadia from their time together at Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven, where the attacker played at both junior and senior level before moving to England. "He quickly made an impression thanks to his goal threat and was on the fringes of the Dutch national team too," said Schreuder.

Locadia notched 62 goals and 39 assists in 176 appearances for PSV between summer 2012 and January 176. He won the Eredivisie title on three occasions, as well as winning one domestic cup and two Super Cup titles in his homeland. He has spent the past one and a half seasons at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he made 43 appearances (six goals and two assists) and played alongside former Hoffenheim man Pascal Groß, 28. "He was regularly deployed in midfield there – but we do not believe this is the position where he can make the most of his qualities," explained Rosen.
