Vogt: "We want to implement the coach's ideas"

Kevin Vogt has made more than 100 appearances for TSG Hoffenheim since arriving in 2016 and is now in his fourth pre-season with the club. In an interview, the 27-year-old centre-back discussed the aims of the training camp, coach Alfred Schreuder and the balance between attack and defence.

Kevin, the first few days of the training camp are over. What's your take?

"The mood in the squad is very good. The sessions we've had have been very intensive and, knowing Alfred as I do, that won't change. The team is making a super impression and the new signings are doing well too."

What are your objectives in the training camp?

"The purpose of pre-season is always to get fit and try some things out. We want to find ourselves as a team here and implement the coach's ideas. By the end of the training camp, we want to be well-equipped for the Bundesliga campaign."

You were already at TSG when Alfred Schreuder was the assistant coach in Hoffenheim. What's changed since he became head coach?

"Alfred hasn't changed at all and has stayed true to his approach. He corrects us immediately on the pitch and conveys his opinion."

TSG scored 70 goals last season, which was the third-best attacking record in the division, but also conceded 52 goals. What specific areas need work?

"We're a team that wants to play attractive football. We need to find a balance between attack and defence. If we manage that, I can foresee a positive future for us."
