Nagelsmann: "We have another big opportunity"

TSG Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmann spoke at the press conference prior to the big Bundesliga match away to Borussia Mönchengladbach (Saturday at 15:30 CET/Live Ticker at achtzehn99.de) about the opposition, the personnel situation and the race for Europe.

Julian Nagelsmann on…

…the atmosphere following the defeat against Wolfsburg: "I haven't noticed anything particularly out of the ordinary. It wasn't the first setback we've suffered this year. You need to be able to deal with it normally. We have another opportunity, although it involves more risk than the game against Wolfsburg. We've dealt well with pressure in the last few years."

…the personnel situation: "Benjamin Hübner (back problems) didn't complete his test yesterday and hasn't been on the training ground today either. I'm not expecting him to be able to play. We're delighted that Kerem Demirbay will be available for us again. In the second half of the season in particular, he's been a driving force for us and played a key role. Kerem Demirbay brings good structure to our play. As for Joelinton, things don't look so good for the rest of the season."

…the battle for fourth place: "It's relatively open. Frankfurt have an exciting match in the Europa League today, but they're on good form and they're in the best position. Leverkusen have stabilised and are now playing slightly better. Gladbach are having a little dip and haven't been able to reproduce their performances from the first half-season. We're dependent on both our own performances and results elsewhere to finish fourth. Our goal is to secure a European spot and our dream is fourth place."

…Borussia Mönchengladbach: "They're experiencing injury problems which they're not always able to compensate for. We don't want to reveal the details we've discovered. They're still a team with huge quality. We'll need to compete well, then we'll have a chance. Of course, we'll have to take risks. Then it'll depend on how the game develops. We're going to approach the match courageously."

The social media fan question of the week:

It's always said that players need to feel encouragement from their coach. Who do you have to offer you support?

"My coaching staff, the sporting director, the executive management, the press spokesperson and the media director. Lots of different people at the club. Privately, of course, I have my family and friends. Although we tend to talk about other topics rather than always football. But I don't need any daily encouragement, I manage fine as it is."

The opposition's form:

Gladbach have dropped off slightly since the winter break, having occupied third position in the table at Christmas. Coach Dieter Hecking's charges currently sit in fifth place on 51 points – one ahead of Hoffenheim – with three matches to go.

Head-to-head record:

The two teams will square off in the Bundesliga for the 22nd time on Saturday. TSG have the marginally better head-to-head record, with seven wins and six defeats. There have been eight draws – including a goalless stalemate in the reverse fixture in Sinsheim.
