Adams: "We won't give up"

Here are the reactions from the players and both coaches after TSG Hoffenheim were beaten 4-1 by VfL Wolfsburg on Bundesliga Matchday 31.

Oliver Baumann: "The goals I conceded were very frustrating. For Weghorst's header, I initially got my hands behind the ball. But when I brought my hands together, I ended up pushing the ball in myself. And then there was the other goal I conceded on top of that. I have no idea what went wrong today. We got off to a good start, although Wolfsburg had created opportunities beforehand. We didn't have any control defensively. Perhaps we weren't quick enough mentally or we weren't quite right positionally. But Wolfsburg did deserve it today given their number of chances."

Nico Schulz: "It was a difficult match. We started well, opening the scoring and then winning a penalty. Then we lost control. We gave Wolfsburg too much time for their build-up and were not aggressive enough in our build-up play. That turned the game and VfL were better. It could be the case that the missed penalty was a factor. But that wasn't the reason we lost today. We didn't take advantage of our chances and Wolfsburg put theirs away. The margin of victory was too high in the end. It'll be difficult now to get into the Champions League. We need to win in Gladbach next week."

Kasim Adams: "We were very good in the first 20 minutes. We had a chance to take a 2-0 lead with the penalty, but then Wolfsburg took the game into their own hands. We weren't compact enough. Our build-up play in midfield wasn't the same as usual. And Wolfsburg made our lives very difficult. We won't give up; we still have three matches to play and we can still achieve our objective."

Julian Nagelsmann: "We had a very good opening 20 minutes. If we'd converted the penalty, the game could've gone our way. We then lost a bit of belief and didn't show the willingness and desire that we have done in the past few weeks. If we play like we did in the final 70 minutes, we won't get to where we want to be. The fact we then conceded four times is not good for our goal difference. Next weekend, we'll have another chance. But there'll be more pressure on us. We deserved to lose."

Bruno Labbadia (VfL Wolfsburg coach): "It was a great win for us. Against a top team that have played really remarkably in the past few weeks. We actually got into it well but then invited Hoffenheim onto us by giving away possession too often. We then came back superbly and got the game under our control before half-time. Hoffenheim withdraw in the second half, which I see as a compliment for us. We gave away few counter-attacking opportunities and deserved to win. The team performed superbly."
