Nagelsmann: "The lads are raring to go"

Julian Nagelsmann spoke at the press conference prior to TSG Hoffenheim's Bundesliga match away at SC Freiburg (Saturday at 15:30 CET, Live Ticker at achtzehn99.de) about the personnel situation, training this week and the opposition.

Julian Nagelsmann on…

…training this week: "We have undersoil heating that works well. It all looked very good. I'm used to colder winters. The sessions this week were perhaps the best we've had in a year. The team has understood that we cannot be content with our current position in the table. The lads are raring to go."

…the personnel situation: "Kasim Adams (thigh problems) and Reiss Nelson (back problems) have not trained this week. Havard Nordtveit is fit again. Lukas Rupp is doing more and more and it's getting better and better, but his knee still isn't at 100 percent. It'll still take a while for him."

…the Bundesliga restart against Bayern Munich: "We didn't play well in the first half. We wanted to defend with a higher line but that didn't work. I already wanted to make changes in the first half but I wasn't sure if we'd have time to adapt to the new formation. In any case, Bayern played very well."

…the game against SC Freiburg: "There is a certain pressure for us to get a result on Saturday, especially as we haven't played well in Freiburg in the past. We need to show leadership and maturity against Freiburg. They give you hardly any opportunities to counter-attack them. They normally sit further back than any other team in the Bundesliga, but Freiburg always defend with a very high line against us. They often change their formation. I'm excited to see how it will unfold on Saturday."

The social media fan question of the week:

Have the butterflies in your stomach and the excitement for the match stayed the same after 100 games as a Bundesliga coach or has it become more or less normal by now?

"It's still not normality. The butterflies are always there, even if it's different. It's very exciting and that won't change in my 101st match. I really love my job."

Head-to-head record:

There have been 17 previous meetings between the teams in the Bundesliga and there have been four wins apiece along with nine draws. However, TSG have only picked up one win in Freiburg − a 1-0 victory in their first Bundesliga meeting in Breisgau in 2009. Since then there have been three defeats and four draws on the road. Hoffenheim won the reverse fixture 3-1.

The opposition's form:

The Bundesliga restart last weekend saw Freiburg drop down to 13th place following a 3-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt. Coach Christian Streich's charges currently have 21 points, meaning they are seven points off sixth place and seven points above the relegation zone.
