Nagelsmann: "Bremen are incredibly adaptable"

In his press conference before the Bundesliga match away to SV Werder Bremen (Wednesday, 20.30 CET), Julian Nagelsmann shared his thoughts on the opposition, the season so far and the personnel situation.

Julian Nagelsmann on…

… the personnel situation: ''We don't have any new injuries to report. A few players are carrying knocks, but I don't think anyone won't be able to play. Kevin Vogt is available once more. A decision will be reached today on whether or not he'll be in the squad.''

… the season so far: ''We're on target to match our overall performance from the first half of last season - if we pick up three points from our remaining two matches before the break then we'll have the exact same number of points as we did back then. That's my minimum goal for the two matches. The team is in great shape physically and is hungry for success.''

… the opposition Werder Bremen: ''They're a team who are incredibly adaptable and are able to play in a wide variety of different formations. They've come on in a positive way, even if they haven't really got the results to show for it recently. I'm expecting an exciting match.''

The Social media question of the week:

What do you expect from your players during the Winter break? ''The most important thing after the first half of the season is recovery. The players should take time to catch their breath and take their minds off sport. Of course we'll give them a fitness programme, but we'll try to give them as many days-off as possible.''

The previous encounters

The two sides have gone head-to-head 20 times in Bundesliga history. TSG have only been able to win three of these matches, losing nine and drawing the remaining eight. However, Hoffenheim have fared better recently, losing none of the last five matches (two wins and three draws).

The opposition's form:

Werder have only picked up four points from their last nine Bundesliga matches. Despite this, head coach Florian Kohfeldt's side find themselves in ninth place after Matchday 15.
