"The team played superbly in the second half"

In their opening game of the season, TSG Hoffenheim were beaten 3-1 at Bayern Munich. Here we bring you the post-match reactions from the players and coaches.

TSG coach Julian Nagelsmann:

"We weren't brave enough in the first half, even though I called for it. The pressure from Bayern was too great. The penalty that shouldn't have been given changed the game. Because in the second half the team played superbly. I don't know where the guys in Cologne were for that penalty. Not then, but only in the 14 incidents thereafter."

FCB coach Niko Kovac:

"The spectators witnessed a good game. The victory was completely deserved, we had a lot of clear chances. But it wasn't as clear-cut as it might appear. I wouldn't have given the penalty."

Nico Schulz:

"We needed to do better after equalising at 1-1. We needed to step up and we dominated Bayern at that stage, we should've gone 2-1 ahead. So in that respect it doesn't really matter whether the scene involving Nordtveit and Ribery was a penalty or not.

Leo Bittencourt:

"We played very well. My first impression was that I didn't think it was a penalty. We were unlucky there. After going 2-1 down, it was naturally difficult to find our way back into the game. But overall, we performed much better in the second half than we did in the first."

Adam Szalai:

"We didn't do it right, we defended badly after equalising at 1-1, no matter what happened with the VAR. We simply needed to be a lot cleverer after scoring."

Havard Nordtveit:

"It's sad that a penalty was given for that incident. We were better in the second half than we were in the first. We still have a lot of matches to play and we'll get our points."
