Grifo looking forward to test against Chievo Verona

TSG Hoffenheim will play a friendly against Chievo Verona on Saturday at 16:00 CET. The contest against the Italian Serie A outfit is to take place in the FC Wels stadium and will be the end of the training camp in Austria. There is good news for all TSG fans: the match will broadcast live on Sport 1.

It is the highpoint of the training camp in Austria: after eight exhausting and intensive training sessions in Windischgarsten, TSG will go up against Italian first division team Chievo Verona. The match begins at 16:00 CET in the Huber Arena belonging to SC Wels, which is around 60 kilometres away from Windischgarsten. It is not the first time that TSG and Chievo have faced each other: Hoffenheim hosted the North Italians in the Rhein-Neckar Arena to celebrate the start of the 2016 season, and won 2-0.

Match to be broadcast live on Sport 1

TSG new arrival Vincenzo Grifo is happy about the opportunity to play against a club from his home country: "You don't often get the chance to play against Italian opposition. As a full-blooded Italian, I am looking forward to it of course."

Chievo have spent eleven consecutive years in Serie A. Coach Lorenzo D'Anna's team finished safely mid-table last season in berth 13. Chievo's squad contains, among others, Gianluca Gaudino, the son of the former Bundesliga professional Maurizio Gaudino. The 21-year-old Gianluca made eight Bundesliga appearances for Bayern Munich FC. "They are a strong team with a number of good players", said Grifo prior to the encounter, which will be broadcast live on free-to-air TV (Sport 1).

After the friendly, the team will return to Windischgarsten once more before returning to Zuzenhausen after a warm-down on Sunday.
