New U12s win their very first tournament of the season

The 2007 crop of talent have bagged their first tournament win immediately after new U12 players had transferred to TSG. They left five other teams in their wake without losing a match on their way to victory.

Coach Arne Stratmann's team began by drawing 0-0 against the Stuttgarter Kickers, a match which Stratmann described as having been played with too much nervousness and too little structure. Nonetheless, his charges had good chances, but were unable to get a goal.

Things went a lot better straight away in their second match, which was played against the JFV Dreisamtal U13s. They beat them 4-0. A goalless draw was chalked up against SC Freiburg, though Stratmann's boys worked good chances for themselves and put on an excellent defensive display during the match.

After a 3-1 win in their penultimate game against French guests from SR Colmar, it became clear that it would come down to goal difference in a win against Offenburger FV, since SC Freiburg and TSG would then be level on points. Accordingly, the Kraichgau boys went on the offensive to notch up a 5-0 win.

"A completely deserved tournament win"

That was enough for the new U12s to claim victory at their first tournament. With only one goal conceded – which only came about thanks to an incredible bicycle kick – Stratmann's troop constituted the most miserly defence, while their twelve goals scored was by some distance the best figure of all the participants at the tournament.

Stratmann was also of the opinion that it was "a completely deserved tournament win", though he immediately found things to be worked on. "Our target for the next tournament will be to play more ruthlessly so that we can decide tight games in our favour."
