Kerem Demirbay set for lengthy spell on the sidelines

TSG Hoffenheim will be without Kerem Demirbay for the next few weeks. The midfielder suffered knee ligament damage and a partial syndesmosis tear to his right ankle during Saturday’s 1-1 draw away at Hertha BSC.

The injury was confirmed after check-ups at the Martin-Luther Hospital in Berlin and in Heidelberg on Sunday morning. The 24-year-old picked up the injury in the 16th minute after an unfortunate coming together with Jordan Torunarigha.

“It’s not good news, even if we were expecting an even worse diagnosis,” said Hoffenheim head coach Julian Nagelsmann. Now it’s all about “supporting Kerem with everything we have, to get him as fit as possible as quickly as possible.” The entire TSG family, including Julian Nagelsmann, the coaching staff and the all of the first team would like to wish Kerem Demirbay all the best with his recovery.
