Reaction after #BVBTSG: “It’s very frustrating”

Here’s what the players and coaches had to say after TSG’s 2-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund on the Bundesliga’s 17th matchday.

Julian Nagelsmann: “Congratulations to BVB. We played very well in phases away from home and could have scored the opener even earlier. We allowed them very few counterattacks in the first half, but we were too passive defensively in the second half and didn’t play as well, which is why Dortmund upped their game. However, we had the bigger chances and should have made it 2-0. Oliver Baumann didn’t have to make any saves, but we still lost. He was powerless to save both goals. It’s just frustrating to see Dortmund celebrating in front of the stands, because I think we deserved to win today. It’s like our previous games in Dortmund – we definitely weren’t the worse team, but we go home without any points.”

Peter Stöger: “This wasn’t a must-win game for us today. We started the game well, but Hoffenheim passed the ball around very well and we didn’t win some challenges. We were lucky that Hoffenheim didn’t score again. The team gave their all and wanted it; their will and attitude was great. We showed the danger we can pose again when Pulisic scored; he did a great job.”

Mark Uth: “Dortmund were completely harmless today. We had so many chances to score a second, but we made the wrong decisions in front of goal or the cross didn’t find anyone in the box. The penalty was the first and then we conceded the second just before the end. I have no idea how we lost today. We should’ve taken at least a point away because we were the better team.”

Nadiem Amiri: “I’ve been coming here for three years. We’re always equally matched, but we always go home having lost. It’s unbelievable. I had to take a lot of risk with my chance to place the ball well. We played better in the first half and Dortmund were better in the next 45.”

Alexander Rosen: “We had more possession and more chances. I’m really frustrated about the loss. We should have come away with at least a point or even win. The physical strain wasn’t the reason we lost today; we played very well. Despite the disappointment, we can’t forget that we’ve had a superb 2017.”
