Perfect Bundesliga opener as TSG beat Werder

TSG have won their first match of the new Bundesliga season 1-0 at home to SV Werder Bremen. Andrej Kramaric scored the only goal of the day late in the second half, handing the home side a perfect start to the 2017/18 campaign.

Line-up and tactics:

Julian Nagelsmann made six changes to his team for the opening fixture of the season, with the following eleven players taking to the pitch to face Werder Bremen at the WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar- Arena: Baumann, Nordtveit, Demirbay, Toljan, Zuber, Amiri, Uth, Hübner, Vogt, Szalai and Geiger, the 19-year old academy graduate for whom it was a Bundesliga debut.

Nagelsmann made his first change in the 64th minute, bringing on Andrej Kramaric for Amiri. Serge Gnabry then came on against his old club in place of Uth. Debutant Geiger was the last player to be replaced in the 74th minute, with Eugen Polanski coming on to replace him. 

Moment of the Match:

The pure release of emotions as TSG’s persistence is finally rewarded with a goal late in the second half. Kramaric’s strike hits the back of the net and the stadium erupts in joy.

TSG start the season with a deserved three points following a hard-fought win against Werder Bremen. It was also the third time Hoffenheim have beaten the Weser club in 20 competitive meetings.
